ABOUT

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation as the tradtional owners of the land in which we operate from. We acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded. It always was and always will be, Aboriginal land.

Nathan McGlynn is a figurative painter whose work focuses on themes of identity, intimacy, and vulnerability. Central to his practice is his recurring character, the 'Darling Boy,' through which McGlynn explores and reinterprets traditional heterosexual imagery from a queer perspective. His tender depictions celebrate the complexities of identity and human connection, inviting a deeper exploration of these concepts. Drawing inspiration from Impressionism, McGlynn's dynamic, painterly compositions bring a sense of movement and life to his canvases, highlighting the mediums in which they are created.

A key aspect of McGlynn's practice is his collaboration with creatives from other disciplines, which often features in Darling Boy exhibitions. By working with artists from diverse fields, McGlynn creates multi-disciplinary spaces that further deepen the exploration of queer themes and broaden the artistic conversation.

In addition to his personal artistic practice, McGlynn is the founder of Changing Room Gallery, an artist-led initiative based in the Motley Bauhaus. This space serves as a platform for diverse queer voices in the arts, encouraging community engagement and offering opportunities for artistic exploration. Through this gallery, McGlynn continues to foster an inclusive environment for queer stories, both in his own work and in the wider creative community.
